#PhoneDownEyesUp: New Honda Video Series Targets Distracted Driving
When you're behind the wheel, your number one priority is getting to your destination safely. Driving may seem like an easy task, but it's easy to take for granted that cars are huge metal boxes travelling at high speeds, and can easily change from a transportation tool to a wrecking ball in seconds. For this reason, it's important to always stay alert, and avoid distractions that take your eyes off the road.
With April being Distracted Driver Awareness month, Honda is seeking to encourage safe driving habits through a new social media video series using the hashtag #PhoneDownEyesUp. The campaign includes six 20-second videos asserting that if you can't text and complete everyday tasks, such as gardening, cooking, cutting hair, or working out, you certainly can't text and drive.
"Honda is deeply committed to enhancing the safety of everyone on the road, so it's imperative that we encourage everyone to stay focused, and remind them about the dangers of texting and other potential distractions while behind the wheel," said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at Honda. "This campaign is intended to be both relatable and shareable content that will reach millennials and deliver an easy-to-understand message about the very human limitations we all have when it comes to driving while distracted."
Honda has also created downloadable lock screens for smartphones to help remind drivers to stow their phones will driving. More information can be found at www.Honda.us/PhoneDownEyesUp.
